There are many beautiful houses in Wellington, Some of them have swimming pools.  Homeowners have pool companies that come out and take care of if any pool pump repair is required.

A pool pump is like a human heart if there is no suction there is no discharge and this could be a big problem.

During the summer months, homeowners have a tendency not to add water to the pool because there’s no time. A swimming pool is always going to have a certain amount of evaporation.

The pool water level needs to have water added from time to time or the water level will get lower than the skimmer causing the pump to lose prime. If the pool pump loses prime damage can cause the pump to overheat because of the lack of water.

Pool pumps can be very expensive depending on the necessary pool system. For example, if your swimming pool has a whirlpool and a waterfall larger demands from the horsepower will be needed of the pump.

If your swimming pool level is dropping excessively then you may have a swimming pool leak either in the main drain or skimmer. Lighting systems in the pool can also have leaks which can drop the pool level down.

When a homeowner sees any debris or garbage in the skimmer they need to clean the basket in the skimmer and clean out the basket in the pump. When the homeowner applies this method there is less chance of system malfunction.

Pool filters need to have a cartridge cleaned or replaced depending on how old the filter is. Sand filters need to be cleaned and fresh sand to be installed. In some of the homes that we have seen we have seen skimmer baskets that have been removed and not installed causing large objects to get jammed on the suction side of the pump causing pump damage as well.

  • If the pool pump does not have a basket in the pump housing items that are in the pool will damage the pump.
  • Example of pool neglect is when the pool pump is making a grinding noise. Damage to the pump is because the water level has dropped below the skimmer causing the bearings in the pump to get very hot damaging the pumps electric motor. The electric motor needs to be replaced with a new motor and seal.
  • Another problem that happens with hot pumps is the impeller inside pump housing because the melts the impeller and the pump will not pump correctly. At that point, the impeller will need to be replaced with a new one.
  • When the pump is running and there is water leaking between the motor housing and the pump the seal needs to be replaced. When the seal is replaced the pump must be disassembled and reassembled with the new seal installed.
  • When the pool swimming pool pump as rust on the bottom of the motor, the motor should be replaced as well.
