Water Well Drilling Permits

Keep in mind that the state of Florida requires you to have a water well drilling permit for two types of phases of the construction of the well. The first phase of the well would be the water well construction the second phase would be the water test inspector for the water well construction will review the method that was used to construct your well it could be a driven well or a Rotary mud method.

A driven well is when a pipe is pounded into the ground until the correct rock formation is made and the inside is drilled out. The casing of the well would be made of a galvanized pipe 2 inches in diameter. The inside of the pipe will be drilled out and cleaned with water until the water does not rise out of the pipe anymore then you will have a well.

When the Rotary mud method, bentonite is used into a mud solution which holds the walls of the pipe open until the potential casing can be slid into place before the walls of the pipe collapse from that point the inside of the pipe will be drilled until the rock formation is completed then you would have a well.

An average well takes an average of about four hours to complete. The price of the well can vary depending on the contractor you are working with. It is a good idea to have a contractor come to your home so you can have them review all the site plans for your home. After the construction of the well, the homeowner will need to have installed a suction line from the wellhead to the pump. An average range in length for a suction line is about 75 feet to the pipe.

The well will need a screen to protect from rocks penetrating into the check well. The check valve will be made of brass and located at the head of the well.
